Why Study in Canada International students from across the globe have every reason to be interested in an opportunity to study in Canada. Our institutions and programs, our country, our quality of life and our economy are all aligned to facilitate, welcome and provide the framework for outstanding academic, social and cultural experiences. Quality education Canadian institutions are noted worldwide by international academic institutions, employers and governments alike for offering the highest quality of education. A Canadian degree, diploma or certificate is recognized globally, with many leaders in business, government and academic circles around the world having received their education in Canada. And the number of overseas students is growing each year as more students across the globe discover the incredible opportunities that await them here. While the quality of education and living standards in Canada are among the highest in the world, the cost of living and tuition fees for international students are generally lower than in other countries, such as the U.S. and the U.K. This atmosphere creates a strong balance of affordable quality for students of all backgrounds. Diversity Canada ranks among the most multicultural nations in the world, with one out of three Canadians having a background other than English, French and Aboriginal. Also, Canada is the nation that receives the most newcomers annually per capita. Almost all of the world’s ethnic groups are represented in Canada. Regardless of ethnic origin, students feel at home in our diverse communities and campuses. The Canadian identity stems from its diverse languages and a culture that has combined European and Native American roots. And, with Canada’s national policy for multiculturalism working to ensure that everyone’s customs and traditions are preserved and respected, Canada provides a welcoming environment for all. Students coming to Canada will experience a secure, peaceful, multi-faceted environment in cities and towns with people who are friendly and interested in learning about other cultures. Quality of Life Canada is recognized worldwide for quality of life. The United Nations consistently ranks Canada as one of the top places in the world to live. From safe neighborhoods in some of North America’s most cosmopolitan cities, to stable government with excellent health care and public transportation systems, Canadian life radiates quality. The excitement of Canada’s metropolitan centers is equalled by the breathtaking beauty of Canada’s wilderness. As the second largest country in the world, Canada is home to some of the world’s most impressive landscapes and geographical features, including the Rocky Mountains, the Great Lakes, Niagra Falls, and river systems galore. Spanning from the Atlantic, to the Arctic, to the Pacific Ocean, Canada is a country of four seasons inhabited by a population that appreciates the recreational opportunities these seasons provide. From skiing to surfing, from golf to camping to hockey….and back again, Canada’s bounty is rivalled only by its unspoiled beauty. Bilingualism Canada has two official languages: English and French. Students may choose to study in either language or at a bilingual institution. As a bilingual nation, Canada offers excellent English as a Second Language (ESL) and French as a Second Language (FSL) programs for students wishing to learn either or both languages. Canadian experts are internationally recognized leaders in language immersion programs. Campus connections Canada’s campuses are wired for Internet residences and classrooms, and equipped with high-volume libraries, sports facilities, concert halls, student-run radio stations, newspapers and business ventures. In addition, clubs and associations representing a multitude of ethnic backgrounds are also easily accessible. International student advisors can help students get in touch with such groups and provide support throughout the year. Employment and Economy International students can easily complement their studies with work experiences on or off campus. Full-time international students at public colleges and universities, who hold a study permit, can work on their home campus without a work permit. And there is also the option to obtain an off-campus work permit. Moreover, through the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program, once international students graduate, they can obtain a work permit for up to three years (varies depending on duration of the studies undertaken in Canada). And with key sectors of the Canadian economy booming, you may just want to stay a little bit longer!
